Asciify turns any image into vector-precise typographic art, a picture made out of words or text. It runs fully in the browser, including background removal, so images are never uploaded. You can export as SVG, PNG or JPG, or paste into Figma as editable layers.

What I did
- Built the text-art renderer with controls for words, fonts, size, density, spacing, overlap and opacity
- Added on-device background removal, plus Solid shape, Inverted cutout and From image colors
- Tested BiRefNet and ISNet on real devices, picked ISNet, and checked licenses
- Moved heavy work to a Web Worker with GPU to CPU fallback and clear loading and error states
- Made it accessible: keyboard navigation, focus rings, contrast fixes and screen reader announcements, ending with 0 axe-core violations
- Added dark mode with no theme flash, reduced-motion support and touch-friendly sizing
